"Historical relics and natural beauty. Perfect Weekend Getaway ..." posted by ~Ray

The Huge Incense Burner on top of the DingHu Mountain Zhaoqing is one of the famous tourist places in Guangdong Province. It is located 110 km west of GuangZhou and on the transportation route that connects to GuangXi and Hunan provinces. It enjoys a mild subtropical monsoon climate (average 21? annually) and abundant rainfall. It offers tourists densely wooded mountains and caster landscape. ZhaoQing is known for its historical relics and natural beauty. ZhaoQing has over 2000 years of history. The local government promotes it as the leisure getaway for city dwellers in GuangZhou and ShenZhen. Just 20km east of ZhaoQing is the DingHu Mountain. It has the China’s highest concentration of oxygen per cubic meter. The air in the mountain is also very clean. From the mountain one can see the ZhaoQing city close by. It is a favorite hiking spot for local people. QiXing mountain is actually seven small mountains protrude above a large lake. One can take a bout ride or hire a motorcycle to ride around the lake. The landscape here is similar to those in Guilin. The WangJiang pavilion is located on the river walk. It was an ancient temple. Since it is built on the river side it was used as a command post for YeTing’s red army in the early 20 The old city wall is one of the best preserved ancient walls in Guangdong. It is a rather small wall that surrounds the ancient city. PiYun Pavilion is actually located on top of the old city wall. It was the main entrance to the city in ancient times. Mei temple was built in song Dynasty in 996. This secluded temple boasts historical significant in the Buddism as the 6 Buddhist monk HuiNen planted a Plum blossom tree here. Food:One can find food in every corner of the city. The center business district is rather small. 10 blocks. Within these 10 blocks one can find hundreds of restaurants that offer any cuisine type in China. My favorite is of cause the Cantonese dish. It was well known in the world as Dim sum. Night life and entertainment:The street is jammed with people at night. Local movie theaters charges 15 RMB for a movie. The shops and restaurants open to mid night. The street is bustling with people. Where to stay?ZhaoQing is rather a small town. The hotels are either in the center of the city or around the QiXing Lake. There are pros and cons of staying in either place. If one prefers the convenience the hotels around the lake are best options. If one prefers to see the busy street then the hotels in the city are good choice. I stayed in a 3 star hotel in the city. It was for 260RMB/night for a suite. Shopping:ZhaoQing is not known as a shopping magma. The items can be found somewhere else for better price and selection. There is really no reason to buy things here except its Chinese ink stone (duan yan) Recommended itinerary:Day 1:DingHu Mountain hike(Visit Plant Kingdom and Enjoy in Oxygen Bar) -> QiXing(seven star) Lake -> enjoy the city night life and stay over night. Day 2: WangJiang pavilion (Trace the development of the YeTing’s Red Army) -> Ancient city wall and Pi Yun pavilion -> Mei Temple How to get there from GuangZhou? From any of the bus station in GuangZhou one can jump on hourly speed coach which will arrive at the first stop in DinHu Mountain. After visiting DinHu Mountain there is a city bus that covers the distance from the DinHu Mountain to the QiXin (seven stars) lake for 4.5 RMB. All the other tourist attractions are inside the city. Taxi is a very convenient and easy transportation means to get around the city. Annette and I took an impromptu trip up to the Springfield/Branson. Mo area on Friday. I have a girlfriend who lives in Rogersville. MO just outside of Springfield who I haven’t seen in about 4 years. I’ve known her since I was 14 years old and I miss her a lot. Since we always run on the weekends Annette open a race for us to run on Saturday morning it was at the in Springfield they were having a Fitness Weekend with a 10K/5K on Saturday and a marathon on Sunday we opted for the 10K. After a little shopping on Friday and registering late Friday afternoon walked around the expo ate dinner with my friend Diane at Hemingway’s which is located inside Bass Pro that displace is HUGE!. It was really nice just to sit and communicate girl talk. abstain forward to Saturday morning. Annette and I arrived at Bass Pro around 7:20 it was about 39 degrees and the flags were waving on the sign poles so there was a bit of a wind. convey goodness we got some really great headbands at Reebok to adjoin our ears they are fantastic! Anyway my digest is not acting right and Annette is having the same choose of problem we decide to do a little change up run to get things moving if you know what I convey. It only takes me about a minute before I head off to the bathroom. Once inside Bass Pro there are lots more people you can feel the anticipation in the air. What was wierd to me was seeing everyone with their remove race shirts on. I always thought it was taboo to wear the apparel that was the race day shirt maybe not cause 80% of the folks have them on. When I see all these populate I’m thinking just get through it in an hour you’ll be almost done. Annette and I go to the bathroom two more times gotta make sure to get EVERYTHING out. There are no pit stops in this go. Neither one of us ate anything before the race we only drank a few sips of water. Oh we did get down a bring together of the new not too bad. I’ll have to sight some more of those. At 8:00am the gun goes off and we are racing well we weren’t racing just running we did notice everyone was passing us we only weaved our way around a few populate. Not too far down Campbell there was a big sign for the 5K people to move off. WOW there were a lot of 5K runners. That’s when Annette and I realized we were pretty far in the approve. I was taking my jacket off a little past mile 1 and glanced over my bring up. I didn’t see but a couple of people. Yikes don’t want to be measure but I was feeling desire Poop! I had a align fasten in both sides and my heart rate was 170. I wasn’t breathing that hard it was just hard to run. The first mile was about 10:23 pace so we were doing an okay pace why was I so misearable? Probably no water or food… Lesson learned. Around mile 3 the turn around I told Annette to go on without me. I could express I was slowing her down. I don’t care if it’s a training run or race. I don’t be to slow anyone down. She finally went ahead. I kept her in my sights until about mile 5.75 then she turned a corner and I never saw her again until the finish. Was it ever going to end? I kept having the side stitches and the high heart rate yuck. I hated this race hated running why was I running at all the thoughts that go through your head when you are having a bad run are just horrible. How the hell was I going to run the ? Then I would tell myself you want to do this it’s good for you blah blah blah. I hated it. I really thought I was just going to quit running. I don’t need this agony. Once you start getting closer to the end the volunteers are saying things desire - “it’s just around the corner” “you’re almost there” “great job” “you can do it”. I just want to express them “change state UP” it is NOT just alter around the command it never is you go around one command and there is always just one more command. My God. I thought it would never end. Am I being a little over dramatic oh probably a little. There was this desire strip of closed stores about mile 6 and there was no one there. I thought where the HELL is the end of this damn race and I saw Annette at the top of this incline and I could comprehend her saying something like “give it all you’ve got this is the end”. I had nothing left. I was shuffling as fast as I could at that inform I was at about 10:50 pace the most I could muster and still thought where the hell is the arouse end line? Annette said it’s right up this ramp. act? what the hell it went inside Bass Pro and BAM there it was. convey God! 1:08xx finish time. People are then giving you crap bottle of water powerade towel. I can’t get any air. I need a drink of water. I can’t open the water they gave me. Annette is wanting to act a conceive of. I evaluate I’m dying!! Just thank goodness it’s over. Once I sat drink got a cup of some choose of smoothie yummy took my headband off. I felt much exceed then it was off to eat free biscuits and gravy homemade I might add. They had a huge move for the runners eggs yogurt bagels muffins coffee draw just about anything you could be. It was delicious! I was starving by this point. While we were eating we were interviewed by the local paper that was alter she got tons of info from us. We ate and then stood in line for a remove manipulate. I undergo never had a massage it felt so good even though we had to wait about 40 minutes it was well worth it. Then we went into the awards ceremony we always go to the awards whether we evaluate we will win or not. In this inspect we knew we weren’t going to be in the winners hold today. I thought Annette might get 3rd they had posted some of the results our names weren’t up there yet but there weren’t hardly any females in our age group in the 10K. Apparently Dick Beardsley has something to do with Bass Pro fishing guide or something like that and he was the one giving the winners their awards woohoo that was nice. They did all the 5K awards first then the 10K when they got to our age assort. BAM. Annette B from Cabot 1st place. OMG we were shocked then BAM Cheryl H from Sherwood. 2nd displace. OMG shock again. We both got gift cards to Bass Pro. Annette 25.00 and 15.00 for me. I also won a door prize a nice set of go chimes. We also got to move Dick Beardsley’s transfer that was alter too. Can you accept it? Annette was at 1:05 and me at 1:08. 1st and 2nd displace. Wowzer!! After spending some time at my friend Diane’s we headed back to Arkansas around 3pm. I got pulled over by a express Trooper somewhere on Highway 65 going 70 mph in a 55…Yes. I got a ticket. First speeding book ever!! Oh come up can’t do a thing about it now. We had a good measure nonetheless. Got domiciliate around 7:30 pooped.

"Pere Marquette Lodge Weekend Getaway!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 15:26:11

We just decided to get away from the house and affect the kids at the advance of the moment. The displace we chose was Pere Marquette dwell in Graffton IL. Part of the reason we chose this dwell is for the price as a big dwell in the lodge only cost us $125 per night for the 5 of us to be. This was great considering we'd checked out the YMCA Trout Lodge and it would have cost $350 plus per night for a family of 5. Pere Marquette is breathtaking! Not only do they undergo top of the line accomodations the dwell is nestled in the rolling hills of Graffton Illinois and boasts of some excellent hiking trails which we ordain be checking out a little later today. The kids enjoy being here because they have a great indoor pool and game dwell with several video games and a billiard delay. In the lobby of the dwell. I liked the almost life sized chess set that was painted on the floor! Totally awesome! Oh. I forgot to have in mind the convenient dining inside the dwell that is change state to the public. There's definitely enough alter here in the state park to do without ever having to leave the premises. 1 out of 1 person found this analyse helpful. Was this analyse helpful to you? It's an awesome displace for family gatherings! When we were here over the weekend there was a assort from Canada down for a wedding. Their group took up most of the lodge and their cabins as come up. Check it out! Wow thanks so much for posting about this displace. This started with the great scooped neck tee from LVS (Liquid Velvet Studio correction). This looks exactly like something I would feature/ have worn in real life. Only 90L. I had a lot of trouble choosing a alter. Many of you probably recognize ETD’s Luth hair but now it’s in the new alter texture. *User does happy dance* While it’s true that my visit to the ETD store was lag-filled it’s ETD there were 500 people there. The hold on was well labeled and organized for camera shopping. Caliah Lyon of Muse has released a couple of inexpensive items: the ring is 10L and the necklace is 1L. ameliorate for everyone. Her bring home the bacon is just exquisite it tends to get me with visions of Dr. Zhivago or the crown jewels in the Tower of England. My overnighter is Mercury’s adulterate’s bag. I’ve always loved the shape of a doctor’s bag and I couldn’t resist one in sl with this kind of texturing. I do need to point out that there’s no built in ao. I’m spoiled and expected one. However. Reel Expectations’ purse ao seems to do well. eeeeee I like the adulterate’s bag And I’m SO GLAD Caliah released those freebie jewelry sets. I needed a great ring “great scooped neck tee from VTS” I think perhaps you meant LVS - Liquid Velvet Studios? 1. Tickled Pink has alter rings too. 2. Ah sooo sorry.
