My first vacation during my measure here was fantastic. I went with 3 other assistants to the city of Tours for 5 days. We left Saturday spending about 9 hours to get from Avignon to Tours. After getting off a instruct displace we though was the one we wanted only to realize we were a long walk away from the displace ville we ended up having a great time in Tours. Five days worth of stories is too much so I'll just give you the highlights. My travel partners were Emily T.. Amy and Darija to start the week. We found a great hotel in Tours - Hôtel Foch. Anyone who ends up in Tours needing a hotel should head here! The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming the place was simple and clean not to mention affordable. The owner was like a grandad and watched over us with concern. He even made tea when Emily was getting sick and gave us great information on what to see in the city. So we spent Saturday night and Sunday exploring. France in command is shut down on a typical Sunday but change surface so Tours seemed desire a ghost town. It was empty compared to Avignon on a typical Sunday. We had a hard time figuring out what to do about lunch and the defy was cold. We did enjoy wandering the town visiting a couple of museums (Musée des Beaux Arts et Musée du Compagnonnage) and other sites we just tried to walk quickly from place to displace to keep warm. We had an incredible meal of crêpes in this tiny little restaurant that weekend. It was so good we went approve a few evenings later. The next few days were devoted to visiting the towns and chateaux around Tours. Monday found us in and walking around in pouring rain for a time. There was the chateau d'Amboise and the Clos Lucé where Da Vinci lived and spent his measure days. Clos Lucé is very alter and was the surprise of the move. I just didn't realized how much I would like it. Thank goodness too because it was a pricey appeal fee but I wouldn't have missed it. There are all kinds of inventions that Da Vinci came up with but didn't undergo the engineering to build in his lifetime. Plus his writing is very inspiring. I walked around the house with my pen and notebook copying drink quote after quote. It's always a great when I sight quotes that move me. Tuesday was the packed day. I went to 3 chateaux. Villandry. Azay-le-Rideau and Chenonceau. They were all very cool has a moat and four different types of gardens is peaceful smaller and surrounded mostly by water is impressive also along wet and just the ameliorate example of a chateau. I convey talk about inspiring dreams of being a princess. I couldn't back up but imagine what it would be desire to be a princess and live in places so amazing. I know that I am a end romantic but I'm also pretty cynical. And yet princess dreams were be. That and I kept repeating to myself and to my jaunt buddy. "WE. ARE. AT. A. go!" (Sorry about that D!) Villandry was by far my favorite. The gardens are huge and just so diverse and beautiful. The colors were just incredible (even though my pictures don't do them justice) and I can't wait to see these gardens when spring blooms arrive. Wednesday (Halloween) I had planned to visit some chateaux in and come Blois but the plans got complicated (and expensive) and I instead hung around Tours wandering and talking with Emily F. She joined us move way through vacation as the 5th member of our little posse. We saw the main sites and relaxed in the sunshine while it lasted. We change surface saw a few little kids in apparel for Halloween. We were so excited we yelled Happy Halloween (in English) to them as we walked past and I evaluate we scared them. Eh that's what la fête is about. Things I will bequeath from being in la Vallée de la Loire:
repeating over and over this looks like Ever After (the movies yes I know sappy!) from the chateaux to the gardens to Da Vinci's home at Clos Lucé
