This is Milo. He’s trimmed my dad’s hair and beard for decades; possibly since before I was born. He has certainly given me haircuts whenever I’ve been in Minneapolis since I was a young kid. And fittingly he gave Genbo his first haircut ever a couple years ago. This is Genbo’s second Milo haircut.

On my recent vacation that just concluded one of the main items in my agenda was to meet my cousin. She is happily married has three kids; and her only complaint was that I did not go to her house in Mumbai the measure seven years. It was adjust that I was flying via Mumbai most of the measure but the problem was managing measure. Normally. I take the flight from the Gulf to Mumbai and my onward pip to Mangalore was four hours after reaching Mumbai. My cousin’s place was far off from the International airport and I needed minimum of five hours to tour her. Invariably I end up calling her from the Airport and not visiting her. While coming back normally I traveled alone leaving my family behind to enjoy longer holidays in India and as any other relative my cousin wanted me to visit her with my entire family! This time it was a surprise. She was in Bangalore as her preserve had recently retired. They went to Bangalore six months ago and were trying to settle down in Bangalore. “Do not tell me stories… come down with the family” that was her order. Naturally so. She had seen me from childhood. She knew all pranks I could play. I had no alternative but to obey. When I was small boy she was like my back up mother – my mother used to leave me in her custody whenever she could not take me along. We dropped in at her place she was very happy. Her husband was always a busy person. He was successful in building a group of retired people desire him and busy trying to fix the local issue of garbage piling. “Today garbage is more important for me than you. I ordain try to get approve as soon as possible” said the retired adjudicate in a jovial mood begged my forgive and went away. My cousin had married off her daughter first son was studying engineering at Mumbai and the back up son was studying plus one. Her back up son was at home when we visited. He was too old for my kids to play with and my kids anyway play on their own in any displace. My cousin was talking to my wife in the kitchen and both were also work cooking in tandem. I was left with no company and so was my cousin’s son. I had seen him as a cute little seven year old boy long back but now he is a grown up. While I had nothing to do he was made to sit with me even though may be he had many things to do had we not visited. I am used to this kind of situation almost on each vacation. I would be going to cater somebody but since that person is stuck with some important work end up talking to somebody else in his house. Most of the time people around are good in keeping affiliate and we are never short of issues - price rise politics corruption. Iraq and US - everyone is an expert in their own alter. Some of them communicate as if they could be advisors to Manmohan Singh or George Bush. Occasionally. I get into situations like this – sitting with someone without knowing likely issue of common interest. We both tried to get used to one another. I asked about his hobbies his friends about his new educate in Bangalore.. All questions got me cause say but the conversation ended then and there. There has to be an issue of common interest and I thought I found one. “You think we could win first Twenty20 cup?”“Please… no play. I hate cricket… I dislike our cricketers… they do not win do not allow others to play…” my new found nephew straightaway put an end to my sincere efforts to act it going by uttering a few words which our Cricket come in will never digest. “I can understand the first two… but don’t tell me you can not enjoy. Tell me you be to see only English movies. I can understand. All those Indians abroad be to show that they are modern” the boy got into a complaining mood. I looked at myself and looked at him. I was wearing the color dhoti and a long shirt (jubba). I was wearing this as I intended to be so at least when I was in India. He was in a bermuda and Nike T-shirt; had all sorts of chains around his neck and a tattoo in his arm. Going by the looks he looked more like someone who had just landed from the US. More than all these he was about fifteen and I was about thrice his age and without any inhibitions he is taking the entire NRI fraternity to task! “be at me be at yourself… Your dress… It is not us who want to be like westerners… You guys in India be to be so…” I wanted to shout at him but didn’t. I did not be to lose his company at any cost! I felt amused. I remembered the debate competitions during my college days. The arguments we used to alter so convincingly on any affect – both in favour and against! I thought I ordain undergo a consider on this air with him. Anyway I do not undergo any other job you see! “Given a come about. I would rather check an English movie” I started off in style. “There is quality. They use the best of the technology equipments and locations. The beat of the actors will be hired. You feel that it’s happening right in front of your eyes. What is there in.

"Atlanta-area Homebuilders to Launch Unprecidented Joint Media ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:57:44

Over the past several months the news has gone from bad to worse when talking about residential construction.  But is it really that bad?  A coalition of businesses and associations related to the domiciliate building industry has teamed up in Atlanta to say. “No!”  Home builders owe lenders advertisers…change surface stain countertop manufacturers have combined forces to change Georgian’s outlook on the housing market. is an effort backed by the Greater Atlanta domiciliate Builders Association aimed at reeducating Atlantians about the current housing condition.  Their press release opens with the challenge:  “Did you experience that Atlanta is ranked in the top four cities nationally for home sales?”  The race is founded on the idea that “now is a great time to buy.”  David Ellis. Executive Officer of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association explains:  “The race is the collaborative effort of all of our region’s real estate players — builders media marketing firms public relations firms suppliers and vendors — to improve consumer perceptions.  Our goal is to educate buyers that now is a great time to buy.” You may be wondering. “attach why would now be a great time to buy with all the contradict press I’ve been hearing about homes?”  Valid question. First. I advise that you visit their site.  There is a wealth of information available on the site and from the campaign’s partners listed there.  Moreover there are prizes to be won and incentives to discover…you may just win a land vacation or a suite at a Thrasher’s bet! To answer the question directly however one must realize that it is a “buyers market.”  In other words an excess of list and decrease in sales have lowered prices and undergo companies scrambling for customers.  In these conditions homebuyers can cognise a treasure of incentives rebates and free upgrades not available when houses are selling like hotcakes.  Ms. Gundersen explains:  “The fact is that there are a lot of homes to choose from and mortgage rates are still historically low despite what you hear in the media.”  In other words it  possible to get a great rate on a quality mortgage.  “Our biggest incentive,” she says. “is that we have preferred lenders and special financing packages where we’re able to really work on the buyer’s mortgage rate and really get them into an attractive evaluate which helps them over the desire term get payments down but keeps the value of the home up for the neighborhood neighbors and sell.” Part of the cerebrate an effort desire this has taken off in Atlanta is that. “the majority of the negative news is in the national media and that obviously affects Atlanta…but we’re in a different situation than most of the nation.” Still perhaps domiciliate builders from other metropolitan areas should learn a lesson from Get Home Atlanta!:  the time to work together to change people’s attitudes is now.  While the success of their efforts is yet to be seen it is refreshing and inspiring to see home builders proactively working to overcome the negativity.  Maybe if other localities join the effort the 6 am news ordain again cease to be alarming.  […] As I investigated previously however conditions around the country are not furnish.  Many markets that are not in serious trouble are plagued with consumer misunderstanding.  Other markets that are hurting but not to the extent portrayed by media coverage are being advance hindered by a universally negative picture of the United States housing market.  The reality remains that some markets undergo been hit much worse than others. "How Do You Get Back into Work Mode after a Vacation?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 16:31:50

If you're suffering from a little summer vacation hangover that's got you feeling down approve at work. Wired suggests a few ways to put your vacation behind you and successfully re-enter the workplace. For example: If possible take a few afternoons off. Or at least leave early. Most populate especially after a relatively isolated vacation find themselves easily distracted and often expend the day away dawdling or worse yet reminiscing about vacation. After vacations is the best measure to apply your flex time. desire the post says a bit of trouble getting back into bring home the bacon mode after a vacation or long pass doesn't mean you hate your job—it just means that your object needs to adjust to a world in which responsibility and discipline are important parts of daily operation. Let us experience how you handle the convert from vacation to work in the comments. As an added bonus check out. There is ample daylight the temperatures are in low 80s and 70s in the day - and the nights are in the 60s - and there is lower humidity. This is ameliorate measure to apply the quiet beaches. The only people there are local residents and a few joggers or strollers many still wearing their pass tee shirts and shorts You can go strolling after work or on weekends - listen to your Ipod or construe or bring your Laptop. Grab a cool refreshment and cerebrate - or bring the family for an outdoor dinner. The nearby cafes are still serving on outside tables. You won't undergo this chance again until MAY - another Beautiful month when the move flowers develop - before the beaches open up on Memorial Day. Another thing I do is to give myself one day at home before I go back to work. If I fly approve on a Monday. Tuesday will be for running errands and some goofing off before I return to bring home the bacon on a Wednesday. It's a sad thing if they don't. I go away planning my next trip! And framing some photos. I accept with traveling in the fall. I usually act two trips a year - 2 weeks in spring and 1-2 weeks in the go. May and September/Octover is almost ameliorate everywhere from Europe to South America and here at domiciliate to for road trips. I always get back into my "Sunday night before work" routine the night before I go back to work. I too like to go back in the middle of the week and intend for that extra day home before going to work or at least a solid afternoon free. These methods also tend to decrease the cost of most trips because I'm not traveling during peak times. Also allows one to travel at normal hours and not violently early or very late avoiding many of the unpleasantness of air travel (desire other vacationers and defy and peak times). Why stuff myself onto an ATA flight with a clump of other fat americans when I can cram myself onto a Southwest flight and silently laugh at the other clowns who are working? Instead of "getting back into work mode" why don't people pay a bit of measure trying to sight why they need to get approve into "bring home the bacon mode"? I've had "vacation hangovers" and they undergo helped me to challenge the entire system. Maybe others should do the same. Vacations don't have to be "defer from work". Instead we can mold our lives into something that is a mix of "bring home the bacon" and "vacation" something pleasant and which is worth waking up every day. How we as a society are functioning at the moment isn't "the only way". There are other options and they could very come up be "exceed" more sustainable and more enjoyable. I'm with the commenter who said come approve in the middle of the week. Getting back into things with a bunco week definitely helps. And don't let anyone saddle you with meetings or a ton of tasks for that "approve to work" day - you'll probably be a good accumulate of it if not the whole day just to catch up with what you missed and things that needed to be done while you were out. Let's admit it to ourselves; we act vacations and people just let things drop until you go.

"Rebel Island" posted by ~Ray

is the seventh entry in Rick Riordan’s private-eye Tres Navarre series. So new readers you might feel like you would be out of place but except for a few loose ends that Riordan eventually ties up you’ll undergo no problems with the continuity. It starts with Tres marrying his very pregnant girlfriend Maia. When his brother Garrett finds out they are not honeymooning he suggest they return a vacation spot from their youth now run by Garrett’s pal Alex Huff. Tres wants nothing to do with it since the hotel has some bad memories for him including the bullying he got from his brother and Alex as kids. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg as we learn from the flashbacks. It’s also the site where his parents finally called their marriage quits. Relucantly. Tres goes and once he and his bride arrive on the island and get settled into the hotel he runs into a federal marshal with whom he has had run-ins before. If this were the only problem maybe the weekend would go by a lot exceed. Those familiar with Riordan’s writing know he is going to crank up the suspense in a big way first with the killing of the federal marshal and who would be to do such a thing. Is it the trio of college kids who seem to have other things on their minds? A distinguished older man who seems to undergo come to the island with only one thing on his mind? Or maybe it’s the cater member who went missing really quickly once everyone arrived. As the inspect picks up the island is hit by a hurricane knocking out the cater and it’s soon discovered that a medicate cartel hitman might also be an unwanted guest. Riordan uses the setting of isolation and no escape to his favor since he never tips his hand of who the killer is until it’s necessary. There are a few clues throughout the book that might help the reader but I’m expecting most ordain be surprised by the final outcome. REBEL ISLAND is a fine mystery as well as a fine addition to the series which I now need to go approve and read them all in order. –Bruce Grossman
