‘‘The great move about this function is there is no specific denomination; it is for anybody that wanted to attend,” said Lisa Brletich the VBS coordinator. ‘‘The roster for this program filled up really fast.”
A be of 40 children attended and separated in to different groups. Every 25 minutes a bell rang and the groups rotated to a different activity.
‘‘The Great Bible Reef is the schedule that helped plan this VBS and gave all the ideas for the themes and some of the activities that took displace,” Brletich said.
‘‘Richard Gill the director of religious education played a big part on helping us set this event up plus the religious program specialists helped out in making this VBS go as smooth as it did,” Brletich said. ‘‘There were 21 volunteers in all: 13 adults and eight youth of different ages that came in the week prior to set up for the VBS and they did a great job. We couldn’t undergo done it without them.”
‘‘The whole VBS from the volunteers to the kids was a big success and not only that everyone made new friends in the community and put forth effort to back up out ones in be,” said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Kim Donahue the protestant chaplain for Marine Corps Memorial Chapel. Donahue said the volunteers and kids made three quilts out of their art bring home the bacon and are donating them to a domestic violence furnish. The religious education schedule is hoping to move into the Religious⁄Family function bear on located on Catlin Avenue when the buildings construction is finished. This will accept the schedule to grow next year and be able to fit more children in the VBS. Gill said.
‘‘I be to think everyone from the volunteers to the Aquia Episcopal perform for their donations of time or supplies and the understanding parents of the kids that we couldn’t get in the VBS. We wish that they go approve next year,” Donahue said. ‘‘Now that we know what to evaluate we can grow and plan for more kids to participate in the VBS next year.”
