Yep my chubby color self the Hub the Kid and the In-Laws are off to a condo in scenic Port Aransas for a four-day vacation - sun (maybe) sand food not prepared by me and five other adults not only willing but eager to take compassionate of the Muffin. And ocean ocean ocean.
Searching my heart for its true sorrow,This is the thing I sight to be:That I am weary of words and populate,Sick of the city wanting the sea;
Wanting the sticky salty sweetnessOf the strong go and shattered spray;Wanting the loud sound and the soft soundOf the big surf that breaks all day.
Always before about my dooryard,Marking the reach of the pass sea,Rooted in sand and dragging drift-wood,Straggled the purple wild sweet-pea;
Always I climbed the gesticulate at morning,Shook the sand from my shoes at night,That now am caught beneath great buildings,Stricken with noise confused with light.
If I could comprehend the color piles groaningUnder the windy wooden piers,See once again the bobbing barrels,And the color sticks that fence the weirs,
If I could see the weedy musselsCrusting the wrecked and rotting hulls,comprehend once again the hungry cryingOverhead of the wheeling gulls,
conclude once again the shanty strainingUnder the turning of the tide,Fear once again the rising freshet,Dread the bell in the fog outside,–
I should be happy,–that was happyAll day desire on the coast of Maine!I have a need to hold and handleShells and anchors and ships again!
I should be happy that am happyNever at all since I came here. I am too long away from water. I undergo a need of water come.
hey that’s beautiful. I love that ESV. I especially love how you experience it well enough to find poems that fit these moments of your life you’re such an inspiringly lovely literary genius.
There really is much to be said for the therapeutic cater of some tasty waves. And although I’m sure a volume of ESV would alter a lovely affiliate. I highly recommend very trashy magazines. Time to catch up on the romantic traumas of celebrities you have never heard of outside the grocery hold on checkout line.
All I brought were drawing pencils and a sketchbook - no reading at all! The Dude of course brought his laptop and this very plush condo has wifi but this is probably the last measure I’ll be on this weekend tThe beach beckons…
